fun announcement and getting personal

Hi all!  I've got exciting news to share.  This spring I'll be participating in the One Room Challenge.

If you're not familiar with the One Room Challenge (the ORC), then let me introduce you to Linda of Calling It Homethe creator of this semiannual event.  Linda invites 20 interior designers, interior design bloggers, and DIY bloggers to redo a room in 6 weeks.  Yep, that's fast.  Every Wednesday the group will post our updates leading up to the big reveal.

When Linda first invited me, I was beyond excited to be included.  Of course I said yes.  Then last night as I was preparing for this post I wanted to get more familiar with the other new-to-me bloggers participating.
Oh. Em. Gee.

You guys...they are awesome.  Like really great and talented.
You might say I had a small panic attack.  What was I thinking saying yes to this?!
I was tempted to go back to bed and hide in my covers. Like maybe for forever?

I'm usually very confident in my abilities.  I feel like designing is what I was born to do.  But I was dealing with a major case of intimidation.  Then, I had to stop my thoughts and remind myself that the design world is big enough for everyone.

I chatted with a friend who talked sense into me.

And realized it's time to put my big girl sparkle on.

And possibly wrap up in a little fur.  (Because yes, it's still snowing here in Grand Rapids, MI.)

Time to get back to work and do what I love while encouraging others.  Do everything in love and it all works out...right?  Great bling helps, too. ;-)  I'm just sure I would more productive with amazing jewelry.

I'll be sharing my One Room Challenge space starting Wednesday, April 2nd.  I hope you come back and see what I have up my sleeve!  I will say that it's a room in our home that desperately needs help.  In the meantime, I hope you visit the spectacular talent that's participating in the ORC.
It's going to be a wild ride.  At least for me! Love you guys...xo

  7. Have you seen pictures of your work lately? You are very talented! Besides...this is not a contest to see who's the best designer. It's an opportunity to have your work seen by a bigger audience. Now's your chance to strut your stuff. And don't forget to have fun!

  18. Abby! You will rock this, no doubt. Last round, I loved looking at everyone's creativity. I don't look at it as a competition as a reader (and I know it's not, anyway) and I don't think others do. It's just such an amazing overdose of fabulous ideas and spaces. I can't wait to see what you will reveal. And I can't wait to do the link up!!

  19. I was thinking the exact same thing Abby, especially when I saw your name on the list!!! :) It really is so much fun, and everyone is so supportive, you'll love it!

  20. girrrrrrrrrrrl, we all scared. your master is gor-geous, so i'm sure you're going to kill it with the bath! (and i had a little problem with wanting to justify those very nightstands, too. no-go.)
