keeping room design plan + sources

Hi all!  This week is flying past me and I'm trying to catch my breath.  I'm thankful to be busy with work and family and friends.  We had our third "Cooking Club" get together this week, and it was so much fun.  I may need to blog about that. ;-)

Do you have a keeping room?  Maybe you call yours a great room?  It's an area off the kitchen where people can keep you company and relax while you cook in the kitchen.

I've been looking at so many pieces for clients lately, that I thought it might be nice to totally share a design plan with you, including all the sources.  Some pieces may be more than you would like to spend, some less, but this keeping room off a kitchen is a space where I would love to spend my time.

I started with these spool chairs.  Chairs are so pricey these days, and these felt like a happy medium at $600/chair.

Then I found this spectacular wool rug, because although this space is near the kitchen, it's not meant as an eating space, and I'd want the floor to be on the cozy side.  Plus, wool rugs last forever.

This beautiful ceiling light was found at a "baby and child" store, but honestly, I love it in this space.

I thought this leather ottoman was interesting.  It has a slight pattern without being tufted.

This keeping room is a mix of natural fiber, leather, brass, wooden beads, and watery earth tones.
I imagine plenty of Legos being played with on this ottoman, or a tray full of cocktails for friends.  The abstract landscape is just to get you started.  I'd do the whole wall in art, with similar, simple white frames.

What do you think?  Are there any pieces that you would want to include in your own home?
Let's continue the conversation on Facebook!
