Mexico and books

I'm checking the map and packing my bags!

My husband and I are flying to Mexico tomorrow.  Eeek!  The only downside is that I'm not a supermodel with a gorgeous body, dress, and bag.  But that pool really is from our hotel!
We're going to celebrate our friend's wedding with twenty other wedding guests.  Oh, and this is our
first vacation without kids since our honeymoon.  That's ten years.  Take a moment and let that sink in.  There are not even children allowed at the resort.

Thankfully, we have an awesome alarm system, and my MIL is coming to our house to stay with the kids.  Phew!  Here's hoping I don't cry when I leave my babies.

Instead I'll just imagine I'm doing this:

And add a little more gloss to my lips.
I've packed books for the trip but I would love to hear your recommendations!
Dish, my friends.  There is still time for me to download them.
I've already packed The Happiness Project and The Hunger Games.  Your favorites?!

In the meantime, my husband and I will be riding off into the sunset.
Or...driving to the airport in a snow storm.  ;-)

  5. Wow, I hope you enjoy your first kids-free trip!!
For a really uplifting and well-written read I recommend Saving CeeCee Honeycutt. I read it because it was recommended after I gave The Help a 5-star review on Audible, and I think I enjoyed CeeCee even more simply because it wasn't fraught with racial tension and other sad issues as much.

  6. I love Mexico! Have fun! Both books are high on my list--you might like Gretchen Rubin's newest too: Happier at Home.

  8. Have fun!!!! And you are the cutest thing ever, what are you talking about? Sounds like a much deserved break. I do love the picture story...especially love the "add some more lip gloss" - is that the trick I need to deflect my body in a bathing suit LOL?? If only it was that easy. Have fun! I am going to be jealous of your tan.

  11. Have a wonderful vacation! I think you will die when you see how amazing the water is there. You'll have to let me know how you enjoy the resort! We really liked it.

  12. Even though you might have already read it (it seems like everyone has!), I finally started Eat Pray Love and have quite enjoyed it so far. It's not nearly as "heavy" as a lot of the stuff I tend to read, and you might be able to relate to some of her traveling adventures since you'll be on vacation yourself.

    Have a wonderful time!

  13. Have the BEST time - that is wonderful. We haven't had a vacation for just us yet either (other than an overnight here and there) and it's been 4 years. But we did do the adults only resort in Mexico for our honeymoon and it was AWESOME - you will enjoy it. And that pool?! Mmm...one of the books that has been on my reading list has been Tina Fey's book Bossy Pants.

  15. Have the best time ever!!!! And enjoy every second and don't worry about those kiddos in the competent hands of your MIL, because the very second you cross back over the threshold, it will be like you were never away for even a minute. Trust me, been there. So. Live it up, kick back, face to the sun (smothered in sunblock, of course), and order the next drink that you wouldn't do if you had the kids with you. Because you don't!! And you can!! Woohoo!!!!! xx
