home office e-design plan

Happy Monday!  This is a new week.  Thank goodness.  Let's start with my plans for a masculine home office in the Detroit area.  My client is an engineer & entrepreneur who recently started his own business.  This space needs to function not only as an office where clients can visit, but also as a guest room.  Here's where we are headed.

I kept with a very neutral color scheme but the space is far from boring.
Here are a few sources I thought you may like.

The rug.  These work great on a wood floor or layered over carpet.

I really like the look and shape of this wood shelf.  It has a very industrial feel.

Industrial light, anyone?

Here are a couple examples of the layered rug looking fabulous.
I love this example of a layered rugs with a neutral color scheme from Milk & Honey Home.

This hide is layered over carpet.  Love.  This room by Lauren Leiss would not be the same without it!

There you have it!

Tip of the day: if you're going to keep your space neutral then your goal should be texture and contrast.  A sleek acrylic coffee table against a soft cowhide rug.  A smooth leather pillow against a nubby white pillow.  The organic live edge of the wood desk against the modern white office chair.  Are you with me?  What do you think of this room?  I'm excited to see it come to life!

  1. This is so man cool (c; I love that wishbone chair and I've been itching for a room that lends itself to a cowhide rug! Lookin' good, my friend!

  2. The look of a cowhide layered over a rug is a favorite of mine too! The space that you designed looks like it will be fantastic!

  3. Great looking board, Abby. And I know the hubs would give it an enthusiastic thumbs up!

  4. excited to see this room come together - love the pieces you've selected so far!

  5. Brilliant, girl. I especially love the light fixture.

  6. And.....exactly! I have the acrylic coffee table over a hide! Great minds babe:). Love the feel of your inspiration board.
