before & after: our green velvet sofa

Hello lovelies!  I'm thrilled to say our sofa is back from the upholsterer, and looks beautiful in an outdoor green velvet.  Seriously, I love it so much I don't even know what to say.  Because it's so durable it can handle my two little boys and was incredibly less expensive than buying a new sofa.  I hope you love it!
YIKES!  I know.  But I wanted you to get the full affect. The picture below was taken after we had added the new lighting to the living room, but hadn't done anything else except move in.  We've come a long way. ;-)

Never underestimate the power of lighting, paint, and fabric selections.
Please forgive me for not really styling our coffee table.  When I have real photographs taken of the space, I'll be sure to step my game up. :-)
Our piano wall has come a looooooooong way from when we bought the house.   Here's the LR photo from the listing.  I'm not bashing their style but I'm using it just to show you how the same house can look so different without construction!

What a little paint, striped hallway, and new lighting can do.  As you can see, our piano wall was a little bare, we still had our cheap Target TV stand, and the overall yeah-we-just-moved-in look.

Our piano wall today:

The day I found the brass etagere at Goodwill really propelled the look of this entire wall.  That was a lucky find!  Maybe I should call this our Goodwill wall because the teal chair was also from Goodwill.  I added an original painting and this GORGEOUS pillow from Pillotopia.  I love how modern and different than my normal style this pillow looks in the room.  Hollie is so talented!

If you look closely, you may be able to tell that I went a little crazy with my gold Krylon pen.  I added a faux frame to the edge of my painting, and I added a gold rim to my painted pot.  Design is in the details, people!

See?  Love the gold trim.

Thanks for taking a little tour around our living room today.  It's not done yet!  But it pays to be patient and let your home evolve.

Would you consider adding more velvet to your home?

  12. I think my favorite part of the room is the drapery panels over the sliding door. That is how you hang panels and make those doors look even bigger than they are. It is so nice to see you put your personal touch on your home.
