trending: double chandeliers

I have noticed a few rooms, particularly dining rooms, are featuring double chandeliers.  Have you noticed this?  Maybe this look has been around forever and I'm just noticing it now.  Why does this work?  It allows you to use round lighting instead of a long, rectangular fixture with the rectangular table.  This also looks amazing when used over a long island in the kitchen.

What do you think of this style of lighting?  Does it make your heart go pitter-patter?  Next to color, the selections you make for lighting can have the greatest affect on your space.  Be sure to put some thought into your fixtures, or ask a professional for help.

  1. I saw your pins on this before I saw this post and was enchanted...love two chandys!

  2. I've been noticing this for a while. I think it's great for really long tables when one center fixture looks too wimpy.

  3. Yes please! There ae so many great, smaller sized, fixtures out there..this allows you to use them in a bigger space

  4. I have two chandeliers in my dining room, and I agree, it works really well for distributing light and it loks great over a long table. Thanks for all the inspiration photos.

  5. double pendant doesn't seem new to me, but the more elaborate chandeliers, doubled, feels fun and new! You would need a BIG table and a big space to pull it off. also feels best when you see into the room with the table running horizontal. Fun inspiration images!

  6. ooooh those pictures are gorgeous!! love love love the gold pendants over the island.

  7. I like the double light fixture, but I prefer them in pendants and drum shades. Great pics you found!

  8. I'd kinda like to do this in my dining room, but it isn't wired for it and seems like too much trouble now.

  9. I like it. I doubt it would work in my small dining room though. :(

  10. i really love the chandeliers in the 1st and 3rd picture=)

  11. Obsessed. I love the large oversized lights in the kitchen spaces. Definitely on my dream design list.

  12. Love these inspiration pics - I just reoriented my table in our little kitchen and need to consider doing something like your examples - I also am loving your teal PB activity table - the blue painting above the piano is so gorgeous - did you make it?

  13. I really love the double pendant lights! They are simple but uber classy! I'd love to do them in my dining room, but I know my hubby wouldn't want to do the electrical...

  14. Well they'd be twice the price but twice the impact too so yes I'd say definately worth it. I love big statement lighting.

  15. I like this because it doubles the drama of the lighting. It would almost always require re-wiring, though...

  16. We have a round table so we can't do double chandeliers. I tell myself that I'm saving money by only having a single. It's a drum shade but it needs a diffuser. Seeing the light bulb bugs me.
I need to find a DIY that shows me how to make my own & how to attach it.

  17. Continue posting about this topic because it's very interesting. Mine I started my blog with very basic. Thanks for the post.
