my top 3 drugstore makeup finds

Today I'm veering off course a bit to talk about makeup.  You may not realize that I am a huge makeup junkie.  I usually use a mix between department store and drugstore finds, but these three products are all available on the cheap.

1.  When we got married I had my make-up done by a Bobbi Brown makeup artist.  She introduced me to their gel liner, which I looooooved.  It's pricey, and you really need to buy the brush to use it.  Then Maybelline launched their version: EyeStudio Gel Liner.  It's much smoother than Bobbi Brown's and even comes with a brush.  All of this for $7.99!  I may need to go back for the Eggplant color.

I heard about it from this beauty blogger.

Oh my goodness, I am slightly obsessed with watching her make-up tutorials on YouTube.  I dare you to try to watch just one. :-)  (Thank you, Megan, for introducing me to her.)

2.  Maybelline Define-A-Lash mascara is wonderful.  I was skeptical of the brush.  I tend to like a large, fluffy bristle brush.  But I'm here to tell you that my lashes look longer than ever.  You can really layer it on for extra length, just don't let it dry between coats.
3.  Revlon ColorStay Lipglaze is ah-mazing.  The colors are not only beautiful, but this truly lasts for hours and hours without drying out my lips.  It has a slight shimmer, without looking sparkly.  (Really, I'm too old for sparkle on my lips.)  It has a lip gloss effect without being glossy...it's more creamy with shine.  I kid you not, I ate a salad with this lipglaze and it did not come off. I would say it lasts about 6-8 hours.  If you only buy one new product this Spring, this is it!

If you're not a drugstore makeup lover, click over to Hollywood Housewife.  She's obsessed with three beauty products at the moment!

Would you try any of these?  What's your favorite drugstore find?

  1. Thank you for the great tips...definately going to try the eyeliner.

  2. For at least 3 years I've been using the Victoria's Secret cream/gel liner that you apply with a little angled brush - and I'll never go back to a pencil form. I love it!

However I'll have to try the EyeStudio one, because you're supposed to change it out for cleanliness every 6 mos (I think) and I never go shopping at VS anymore. Heaven knows how old my gel liner is. . . eww! :)

  3. Okay, I'm gonna give it a try! Always so nervous to use the gel, but I am going for it!

  4. Thanks a lot Abby ;) You got me all excited about the eyeliner on Sunday -- and now I've got two more things to shop for ;)

  5. I also love the Bobbi Brown gel liner! It dries out really quickly though. I have seen the Maybelline version and have been wanting to try it. Glad to hear it's good. I think I'll give it a whirl.

  6. Thanks so much for sharing this!! I am totally in a makeup funk and ready to try new products, so I will be giving these a try!

  7. I will definitely check these out Abby. I have really gotten away from paying for Chanel, Lancome, etc.

I hope you will come and join my new Fashion Giveaway from Fresh Produce!

  8. Great post! I love a good drugstore find! Will have to try these out!

  9. That has been my favorite mascara for years, I tried it after I saw a rave review! I haven't tried the others, but will. Thanks for the tips!

  10. I can't stop watching her videos either. The purple smokey eye had me hooked.

  11. I use that eyeliner and love it!!!! I've been a makeup junkie since I was a teen. I'm big on Bare Essentials lip gloss. And hello you are not too old for sparkle!! I just tried a sparkly sheer lip gloss by Chanel and it was glorious and I'm way older than you :). Yet another thing we have in common. Can you stand it?

  12. Ooooh! Thanks for sharing! I'm always down for trying a new product :) I enjoy your blog and projects! Thanks for sharing! ~gina

  13. That's it! I'm getting some gel eyeliner today :) Never even heard of it.

  14. wow! definitely going to get this eyeliner!!

  15. it smudges it sucks! waste of money!
