fabric obsession: lelandgal by Maggie Mielczarek

Design should be personal.  So many times a client will say, "I want my home to look like a Pottery Barn catalog."  Really, your home can be so much better than a catalog.  Including found objects from your travels, or pieces with sentimental value, are what take your home to the next level.

Lelandgal, also known as Maggie Revel Mielczarek, has created a fabulous line of fabrics that is not only charming, but personal
for anyone who loves the water!

Did you know northern Michigan looked like this?
This is Leland and I wish I was there right now!

Maggie grew up in Leland.  Her paintings reflect
her love of the area. They are beautiful (!) but I am obsessed with
her new fabrics even more!  Here are a few of my favorites.
I'm hoping to use this first one
in linen as drapery panels in H.'s big boy room.

Country Farm Clouds

Red Fishtown Zig Zags

My Country

Blue Spaced Tug Chevron

Blue Sky Leelanau

You can see more of Maggie's work here.  She's also willing to work with you on changing the scale or colors of any pattern.  I can't wait to get my hands on a few yards!

  5. Wowsers!! First, I had no idea how gorgeous Michigan was (forgive me, I've only been to Detroit on business and did not venture towards anything that looked like this). Second, that fabric is fantastic! I can't wait to see how it looks in Holden's room.

  6. How I wish that were me in that photo of Leland relaxing on the bench soaking in the sun. In a few months hopefully that will be me in a yet to be determined location. But, I've had a few people say that they want their home to look like "Pottery Barn" and that's where WE come into play right? And show the client that their home can be personal and beautiful without spending the entire budget at Pottery Barn. So true! Hope you have a great weekend! How did your appointment go for the bedroom design plan?

  8. Beautiful fabrics. I agree with you, making a room personal with found objects and collected pieces is much more beautiful than a room from a catalog!

  9. What great advice! I strongly agree that your space can look so much better and more personable to your own taste than a catalog!

The first and last fabric print are great!
