boy's room design plan

I love the fresh start of a Monday!
A new day.  Another chance to create.

If you follow me on Pinterest I'm sure you've seen me pinning for H.'s big boy room.  Working on spaces in my own home is always more difficult than designing for others.  But I think I've nailed down a plan.

At first look it may not appear to be a room for a little boy.
However, this room falls in line with my overall design philosophy to design for long term.  The accessories and art are what transform the room into his.

Originally I had planned to search Craig's List for wood headboards I could paint.  I looked for weeks, and my friend Sally even sent me a nice option, but nothing was exactly right.  THEN I found this brass twin bed on amazon for $29.27 and bought two. I'm already obsessed with brass and how could I resist that price?
They're a little on the shiny side, so I'm guessing I'll have to
 tone them down a bit.

I also found these vintage sports posters on art.com.
I may add more vintage sports pieces to the mix.  My friend Amanda mailed me a set of vintage Michigan State University Football cards.
Again, how can I resist?

The sheets are another subtle, fun element, that make this
 room for a little boy.

This is how it all comes together.

I hope you like it-- I know my little man will love it.

  8. I love that the bigger elements are the ones that will stick with you for the long-run, but that the accessories and details are the ones that will make this your son's room that he'll enjoy for a while. I think it's great - and I love the idea of using the Michigan State cards in the decor as well.

  18. What a fabulous room!. Aside from the artwork, you can't even tell it's for a big boy.
Years ago I gave away my shiny brass headboard. If you show how I could have aged it, I'm going to be sick with jealousy.

  19. I am redecorating my little guys room on a dime. We are in a rental so all of the pizazz has to come from our furniture and decor. I am LOVING your choice of green for the dresser! May I ask the specific name of the color is?
