I'm back! I've been missing you, but have been busy with clients and re-purposing this buffet. I should warn you that once you do this, it may be very difficult to stop. I'm already itching to start painting other pieces of furniture in our home!
Let's do this... If you remember, this Drexel buffet cabinet was found on Craig's List for $50.
I knew it would be perfect for our TV wall. This wall was pretty depressing. The Target TV stand was too small for the space, looked messy all the time, and was very dark. See?
After some primer and high gloss white, and new hardware, she looks like this!
These are possibly the worst photos ever posted on a blog; I apologize! But I hope you can still get the idea of the feel of the room. It's soooooo much better.
A few of you had questions on how I would incorporate the cable box without glass doors. Well...I decided to put the cable box next to the TV but I'm hoping it's camouflaged a bit with the books and orchid on top. The DVD player and Wii are both inside the buffet. My husband just drilled a hole in the back panel to run the cords and everything works perfectly!
Do you like it? It's "me" and totally fits our house. Would you ever try a project like this? I know I was inspired by everyone's favorite blogger, Emily Clark. Thanks Emily! Now onto the next project!
Looking grey Abby- I love the yellow chair beside it too!
ReplyDeleteLoving the white and new hardware. What a beautiful transformation. Also love the peak of the stripes in the hallway--so fun!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Abby! It seems you have updated another piece as well, that chair is fabulous, just the right pop of color!

Isn't it amazing what a little coat of paint can do?! Your project turned out beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us, Abby!
ReplyDeleteLadies, I can not take credit for the amazing chair. I bought that at my favorite local store, Rebel.reclaimed! I've had the chair in the corner next to the piano for a month or so, but now it has a proper place in the spotlight!

ReplyDeleteAm I really everyone's favorite blogger? :) Ha! You're so silly.
This piece looks awesome Abby! It's just what I need in my living room, so you can ship it to...:) I LOVE the new hardware, the piece looks really great. What a fresh new look and fits right into your home now. I'm still on the hunt - hopefully I'll have success soon on a piece similar.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is pretty much awesome. It came out beautifully. Great transformation.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! It is so hard to work with tv's and all that goes with them. I am in the mode of not hiding it and just figuring out a way to make it not the focal point. You did a great job with the chair along side it and the lighter colors!

ReplyDeletehahah I just posted a tv-stand reveal on Monday! we are on the same page, but mine is stained and yours is painted. best of both worlds ;)
ReplyDeleteYou & I have the same taste. I painted my black TV cabinet white also. It did have the glass doors to hold the cable box. But now that the inside of the cabinet is white, it shows the black cords through the glass.
ReplyDeleteDrives me nuts.
Nice job, Abby!
Lovely - great job.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Abby! Way to repurpose an older piece and make it look amazing! I didn't even realize that the cable box was there! It looks great with the books on top to conceal it. The room is really coming together. :)
