my mom's reno part two: the bathroom

Welcome back to the stories of my mom's reno!  If you missed it, I'm helping her and her husband make all the selections for their huge renovation to their one bedroom condo in Marina City.  (Chicago)  I shared all the selections for her kitchen here.  I know her kitchen is going to be amazing, but I think the bathroom is going to be even better.

Let's start with an inspiration image.  What we liked were how the white subway tiles went up the wall behind the mirror, plus this layout is similar to hers.  This allows for some color, but mostly tile.

First, the vanity.
I spied it right away, and wouldn't you know it is the exact size she needed.  Boo-ya.

I decided to use the same countertops as we used in the kitchen.  Merope by Silestone.

Faucet by California faucets:

shower temp dial:

Yes, a beautiful shower drain.  It's amazing how excited one can get over a shower drain.

The walk in shower will be mostly white subway tiles (see inspiration picture) except for the shower floor and the full back wall, which will be hexagon glass tiles.  Here's an example, but not in the right colorway.

Now I've said this before and I'll say it again, you'll just have to TRUST me that the picture below doesn't do any of these materials justice.  The floor tile is made from volcanos (?)  or something fancy like that.  It's a beautiful charcoal color but has tons of texture with almost a linen stripe.

The counter is the Merope from above, not black.  And I swear that the glass tiles do not have any purple in them. All together they make magic.  Just ask my mom. ;-)
That's the good news.

The bad news is that the renovation doesn't begin until February and is scheduled to end in May. It will be a while before you can see the end results.  But their contractor does every condo in the building so he has it down to a science.  I can't wait!

BTW: My one year blogiversary is quickly approaching.  I have something fun planned for next Monday!  Thanks so much for reading!
