mixing style + kids

Yes, it possible to mix the two.

I'm working on a study/TV room, and the client wanted "style" but still a place where her three young boys would feel comfortable and be able to study.
(You might remember that I recently shared the fabrics from this same client's bedroom project.)

I found this photograph and I would say it has both style and a sense of playfulness.  Just what I wanted.

Thankfully Meredith liked it too and the seller is willing to make custom sizes.
What do you think?
Isn't a Vespa photograph so fun?

Here are other pieces from this same seller I think are wonderful for both kids and adults.

You can find them all here.

switching gears...
I know I said I'd be sharing a big surprise.
Have you ever seen these buildings in Chicago?

My mom and her husband live there and they are totally gutting their one-bedroom condo and they've asked for my help!  I spent last weekend having a blast with my mom, selecting *every* material for their renovation.  Would you believe it only took a couple hours?!  She is so excited and I know it's going to look amazing.  I took a million pictures from our adventures but I'm saving those for another post.
Ya'll come back to read all about it!

  1. Can't wait to see what you selected for your mom.

  2. I love those car images! They're spunky and fun, but kind hip enough that a parent will still like looking at them too.

Sounds fun working on your mom's place!

  3. The Vespa/automobile photographic art are so awesome - perfect for a family space. I love selecting those touches that are just going to set the stage for the room - and I think you've done just that. AND, how fun about your Mom's condo??!! I can't wait to see what you've cooked up. I was just thinking earlier that I might surprise my Mom at Christmas and make her new window treatments or pillows or something - something to jazz up her living room.

  4. Fun pictures! I am thinking the VW would be my fav. Have fun with your parents project!

  5. Wonderful news! Your mom is so lucky to have you and I can't wait to hear more about their amazing condo...And then visit it again one day!!!!

  6. how exciting!!! I can't wait to see what you do to your mom's apartment!!

  7. Those prints are brilliant! I would definitely use them in my house.
