many updates to our house

Hi all!  First, I want to thank those of you who left comments on my last post and sent e-mails.  You've inspired me to keep going, but to slow down on the blogging front.  Seriously, thank you!  I've been making updates to our home and thought I'd throw them all together in one long post.  I'm happy with how everything is coming together!

I've said this before and it's worth saying again.

When they posted this chair on their Facebook page, I knew it was just what our house needed.  Thankfully I have their number programmed into my phone.  Dan saved the chair for me until I could pick it up.  It now lives in a corner of our living room and I have to say it looks fabulous.  It has a real presence about it--not to mention style!

I also picked up two of these pillows.  You like?

My grandmother was generous and gave me this lamp.  I wasn't exactly in the market for a peach lamp, but the shape was fabulous.
So I threw some gold spray paint on the base, and voila!
New lamp for our living room!
I can't wait to show you how it looks in the room.  I'm still waiting for the perfect shade.  I haven't been able to find one large enough.

Some of you loyal readers may remember this desk that Jay's Grandma gave us.  (Yes, we've got "Grandma Goods" all around.)  This picture is with our old wall color and the desk was black.

I painted it a sample color I had left over in the closet.  Sadly, I have no idea what color it is.
I'll keep looking though!  I know, these photos are grainy--please forgive.
I still need to paint the underside of the desk and the chair.  I'll keep you posted!

We also hung this mirror I snagged from a garage sale in my neighborhood.
It's rose gold and beeeeee-utiful.  It's a quick way for us to check ourselves before we leave the house into the garage, and brings some much needed light to this hallway.  I have long term plans for this hallway, but like the name implies, they're LONG term.

Hopefully you can see that I'm still working toward my original inspiration.
My home is a work in progress, but I am making progress. ;-)

And because this is my blog, and I happen to have the cutest ring bearer on the planet, I just have to post this picture of my oldest in his tuxedo.  He was darling!

What are your plans this weekend?  I'm working on something big.  Very big.  I'll fill you in on Monday.  Let's just say it will involve a lot of demo and plenty of shopping!  Have a wonderful weekend!
