What happens when you follow your passion and fate steps in? Your work gets on HGTV.
I recently showed you pictures of a home that didn't look so nice. My clients purchased the home and heard a week before moving in that they were chosen to be on House Hunters, on HGTV. You can imagine my surprise when I received that text!
This is Colleen and Rick. Aren't they darling!? They are getting married in December and hired me to help them with the living room and kitchen area. They wanted to have a big picture vision for the house before they made selections like carpeting and lighting. They live a few hours away, but I was able to drive over last weekend to meet with their very talented brother in-law/contractor. We came up with a plan and demo started the next day!
As you can tell, this is no small project. House Hunters comes back mid-September to film the "one month later" shots. I wish it was three months later, but no such luck.
Last week Colleen and Rick spent two whole days filming the "before" and "shopping" scenes with the House Hunters crew. {Yes, House Hunters is totally staged.}
Here is a horrible picture, from the brochure, of the sofa they chose.
You'll just have to trust me at is actually very pretty in person.
We knew we wanted to lighten and brighten the home, so the whole kitchen/living room is being painted Benjamin Moore's Gray Owl. Plus, Colleen really liked a neutral pallet with punches of color. Here is the design board for their living room:
They are really happy with the design and I think it looks like them--which is always the goal!
What do you think?

That's so exciting! Love house hunters so I'm sure ill see it.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors in this design. The ottoman is my favorite. That was the first thing that caught my eye. Absolutely love it!
How very exciting! This is going to be a very fun challenge for you and I just know that it is going to turn out beautifully.(-:
ReplyDeleteWow - so exciting! I'm loving what I'm seeing so far, and will take your word for it on the sofa :)
ReplyDeleteThey are so adorable and that's a busy year for them (and you) I might add - buying a home, gutting it, being on HGTV, and getting married. Whew. I think the board is great and I think the feel of it is perfect for newlyweds. I think that paint color is really going to brighten the space. How much/often do you interact with the contractors?
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! Although I'm a little devastated the house hunters is staged (but could have guessed it).

Always a bummer to hear another show is staged. But the before/after shots & the work are all still legit, so this is all still great! So excited for them & you. And, yes, as others mentioned above--that ottoman is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great opportunity, both to help with such a fun project and to have it featured on House Hunters! You go girl!
