new house updates...plus one

I'm talking lighting again today.
I realize you're probably overdosed with the topic, but the fact remains that it's such an important choice!
I did want to clear up something from yesterday's post: I did not want that light for my own home.  I just found it interesting that something so stylish could be bought from Home Depot!

I thought I'd let you know what we decided on for the entry of "the T. house".  I actually found this
piece on overstock and my client really liked it!  I think it will look great with the floors and wall color.
Everything is moving very quickly on this client's home, so I should be able to share pictures soon!

Changing gears...
Let's talk about our new house.  I think we've been here at least a month.  And I can say that many of my ideas I thought I wanted to do have changed, or just are not as possible as I thought.  It has been a crazy month.  the honeymoon is officially over.  First, our basement flooded and even after the emergency clean-up crew arrived the smell was obscene.  We finally figured out that the smell in the carpet was pet urine!  aagh!  So the basement carpet is ripped out.

I thought I wanted to paint our dinning room glossy white with a pink/blush ceiling and this chandelier:
Although I still think that would be gorgeous, I'm not sold on how this would look with our cabinets as the backdrop.  I plan to have them sprayed white but I'm not sure when that will be.  Plus, my color choices have changed!

Long story long, I'm going with this lucite beauty.
This picture doesn't show it's full detail, but I'm pretty excited about it.  I know it has the potential to look a little crazy, but it just needs context.

Like two of these:

I think my walls will be this color:

That's it for the updates!  Thanks for hanging with me.  I so appreciate you!

  16. Sorry about the flooding in your basement!! That's horrible!! At least one of these days when your house is completed..(or is it ever?) then you will appreciate how far it's come ;) Loving your ideas! Especially the light pink ceiling..even if you're thinking of something else I love the idea of it!! and that lucite chandelier is marvelous!!

Hope you have a great weekend!!
And thanks for the shout out on your blog roll :))) Means a lot!

  17. I love everything you're doing and watching the process!! So sorry about your basement...ugh!

  18. Hey Abby, just saw you left me a comment - thanks!! I'm so behind in postings! We've been doing a lot of landscaping work and now wallpaper. So sorry to hear of the flooding - I hope you didn't have too much damage with boxes sitting on the floor. I need to read back to see more of your new house. The lights are beautiful - I love the shimmery one, but only in the right room of course! I've been thinking about a new entry light as well... hard to find something fun, but not too contemporary. Best, Nan

  19. i so wish i could give you a hard time for changing your mind... but it'd be a case of "pot.. meet kettle" LOL details on this explanation will be in my next post.. ;)

  20. Oohh...I like it! And don't worry, I'm pretty sure I change my mind every week when it comes to potential paint colours haha
