lighting options

Where do you spend your money?
Is it on fabrics, furniture or lighting?  Maybe it's all three!

I am a true believe that the lighting in your house is what sets your home apart from the rest.  I've been sourcing light fixtures for the T. house's two-story entryway.
Here is what they have now:
Not exactly what they would pick!
Remember, all of this is changing.  Everything is either getting painted or coming down.

Here are a few options I sent to Mrs. T..
Do you have a favorite?
If you're willing to share your best source for lighting I would love to hear!

  1. Keeping in mind what you're doing with the staircase, I think I'd go for the lantern - simple and classic!

  2. The lantern is a gorgeous choice, but I also like the softness of that pendant bottom left, especially if you're hanging art here.

  3. oooohhh... great lighting options! My favorite is the lantern style on the far right! :)

  4. I'm drawn to the lantern style -but also love the "delicate-ness" of the gold chandelier.

  5. I adore the bottom left pendant. Do mind sharing some great lighting sources? I have to replace several fixtures (Staircase included) and am not sure where to look. Thanks!

  6. I like the lantern style - mostly because of its classic lines, but also because the drum shades will collect too much dust etc. The chandys are great, but I don't know how the rest of the house is decorated. I like to look at the lighting choices in the Pottery Barn and Ballard catalogs and then pick something much cheaper from Overstock.

  8. The square lantern in my top choice but I do like the softness on the light on the bottom right.

  9. Love the more chandelier-y options, but that cage-y one is beautiful too!

  10. That's the same "builder-special" light I used to have in my foyer! Yes, I agree, it must go! I also agree that the ones with the shades might get too dusty. I love the lantern.

  11. I agree!! If you don't have the perfect amount of lighting it can ruin a mood or setting! Their current light fixture looks like the one at my grandmas..lol...I'm thinking the 2nd or 3rd one would give off the best lighting. Romantic and welcoming!

  12. They are all awesome, but for that spot I love the black square one.

  13. I love the square one as well. When were were renovating our home, I found great Restoration Hardware lighting on ebay (at great prices).

  14. Hands down the black square. How are you?

  15. They are all really pretty but I especially like the square one. I am new to your blog and am so glad that I found it!!

  16. I also like the black square, but it kind of depends on the rest of your decor. A close second is the 1st chandelier in your set.

  17. Ooh I really like the iron one!
