client kitchen: before and after

This is Emily's kitchen.  She asked if I would help her make a few changes and I was excited to do so!
She knew how she wanted it to feel and had some pretty specific ideas, so we spent the day together and we decided on cabinet paint color, lighting, counters, hardware, flooring, backsplash, sink, molding, and faucet.  She lives an hour away so we wanted to get it all the decisions made quickly.  Then, as the project evolved, she would shoot me emails or call me.  You'd be surprised how many times you question yourself, and a professional can help talk you down from all the doubt because they know the "why" of the choices.

Here are the before and after pictures she sent:
Notice the laminate floor and counters, the florescent light over the island, and generic builder cabinets.
The cabinets were sprayed white and crown molding was added to the top.  New hardware, lighting from here, a greige wall color, and fantastic counters really make a difference.
I love the new floor.  No more pinky beige laminate floors!

The granite is actually not as warm as it looks here, but more of a black and white colorway.
The counter was extended for her kiddos to pull up a stool, along with box molding around the island.

Here you can see how dark the wall color was and notice their light over the table.
New large schoolhouse pendant.

This wall of cabinetry and desk was built to match her existing cabinetry and her did a great job.  They're still waiting on the desk counter, but isn't this a huge difference?
Thanks, Emily, for sharing your kitchen with us today!

  12. Abby this is GORGEOUS! Come to my house next! My kitchen is soooo dated and in need. Alas, I haven't done much to it. We go back and forth about bumping it out, so I make only small changes. Watch us debate this for 10 years and then move!! You did a beautiful job, the homeowners must be psyched!
