wallpapered ceiling

I'm committed to wallpapering a ceiling in the so-close-to-new-pending-inspection house.

This entry is my dream entryway.  I love absolutely everything about it.
Except for the statue that I think looks like E.T. holding flowers.

This triggered my wallpapered ceiling lust.

This same effect could be achieved with paint, but don't you love the texture from the paper?

Love the paper.  Hate the fixture.  But I think it's fabulous that they installed a classic patterned paper in a contemporary space.

Dream bathroom.  Enough said.  Yes, the wallpaper doesn't cover the ceiling but this is just as good.

Isn't this ceiling stunning?  Even if you don't like the rest of a the room, it's hard to argue against the ceiling.

I have no idea if our next house will be our "forever" house but I don't want to hold back.
I refuse to decorate out of fear.

What risks would you take in your own home?
Are you shouting at your monitor that I'm making a big mistake and that all my future ceilings should be white?

  1. ET ha! Love it and I am with you. Wall papered ceilings are a nice touch (as long as I'm not the one doing the wallpapering). I know you are ready to find a house.

  9. Never a white ceing! Ever! I've painted them all a color even if its just a tint of the wall color. I would wallpaper a ceiling in a second but for the fact that mine are textured. I am in love with these images. Be bold and fearless my friend! :)

  10. Those are beautiful! I guess as long as the room is large enough and taller ceilings. But I would not want to do it!! Will you do the hanging or hire it out?

  15. I like interesting ceilings - something other than white. I love that first pic - I like how the wallpaper comes down on the wall just a bit - makes the ceiling seem higher. Can't wait to see what you do with your next house! I know it's going to gorgeous!

Just another reason why Joe has to get rid of these awful popcorn ceilings for me.

  24. To answer your last question. If you own your home, do all that your budget will allow. There is no season for regrets. On a very serious note and to quote the tagline of a blogger, "Life is too short to live ugly."

I do agree with this. 100% of the items in my home I don't necessarily need. I can survive with just a place to lay my head and bathe. But when nothing is certain from one day to the next, I think we should all take time to live well within our means.
