sharing the ugly and waiting

This post could also be titled
"sharing the not so great images of our
soon-to-be-pending-the-inspection new house".

I'm just not very patient when I'm excited about things!  Our inspection is not until Thursday and that feels like an eternity to me.  And after last time, I know that everything could fall apart after the inspection, so I'm trying not to get too excited.

BUT...
I thought it might be fun to share some of parts of house that need rescuing.

Let's start at the beginning.
via MLS

The house is brown.  Lots of brown.  Also, could you tell this 70's ranch is made of angled brick?  Why?  I have no idea.  But short term I think painting the front door a stand-out color and accessorizing the front stoop would work wonders.  Long term, I think we will add shaker shingles to cover the brick and stain the whole house grey with white or black shutters.

This whole fireplace will get a makeover but I'm not sharing all my plans today!  Do you wonder why the wreath is so high and lonely up there?  I wonder why the builder made the mantle so skimpy.

Do you love our mostly grout counter in the master bath?  I actually don't mind the blue sink and blue shower, because just imagine the fabulous wallpaper you could install with these colors!  And no, I'm not kidding about wallpaper.  But cleaning this countertop could be a problem. And that faucet has to go.  I have more plans but there is plenty more sharing to come!

I will tell you that the floor plan of this house is incredibly open.
See?  That was one of our top priorities.

For now I'll be waiting not so patiently for Thursday to come and for a positive report from the inspector.  Then I hope to be lining up a carpenter, electrician, and painter to get to work!

On a totally unrelated note, I'm going to see this lady tonight.

You may have heard of her!
The dress code is "business casual with a splash of red" and I have NO RED in my wardrobe.  None.  Maybe red lipstick? ;-)
