down to business: taking risks

What do you do when your dreams begin to come true?

Over the weekend I submitted the paperwork for my little business to become a real company!
 I'm very excited.
I've had paying clients for a while now, but realized it was time to get legit.

I love the name of my blog, but I didn't think "a delightful design" was the best name for a business. So I named the company "M. Interiors" by taking the first initial of my last name.
The steps I've taken this year (blogging almost daily, working with clients, re-designing my blog, taking an interior design class, making this a .com) have all moved me toward my dream of working for myself and following my passion.

Seth Godin writes, "Once you understand that there are problems just waiting to be solved, once you realize that you have a the tools and all the permission you need, then opportunities to contribute abound.  No one is going to pick you.  Pick yourself."

I didn't want to spend my life hoping to one day do what I love on a consistent basis.  I picked myself.  There are more opportunities coming my way every day and I am incredibly grateful!

I'm not writing this to give myself a pat on the back but to encourage you to jump into what you are passionate about!  Take the next step!  Learn more!  Take more time to grow your craft or just time to know your passion!

There are a few bloggers that have specifically inspired me to jump in with both feet: Camilla, and Julie.  Both of them started their company after design blogging.
A special thank you to both of them for taking the plunge and allowing us to follow along.

Has blogging or reading blogs inspired you to dig deeper into your passions?
To try something new?  To take a risk?

  3. It's good to pat yourself on the back. You have inspired me to "grow my craft" while by babes are so little. I look forward to the day very soon that I too have beautiful business cards and clients lined up to do my other passion (besides being a mother) and dive into design. Great Monday post!

  5. Congratulations on taking the leap and following your passion! One of my favorite quotes about career choices is "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." Sounds like you've really found your niche!

PS: These rooms are stunning. Are they your designs?
