I am finally getting my Christmas act together and my shopping is 90% finished! Phew.
We're going to a soup party tonight and I'm bringing Pioneer Woman's
"Simple Chili". While I was shopping for ingredients I spotted these containers of wheat grass.
I knew they were just what I needed for my Christmas tablescape. Mind you, I had no idea what I was going to do with my table at the time, but when you see something you love (that is $2) you take the plunge and trust your gut. Within an hour of being home I had the whole table planned out in my head. You'll have to come back later this week to see if I can pull it off!
Now for some inspiration! Just click on a picture you like to be taken to the post.
Don't be afraid to mix ideas from different tables.
You can keep it simple and still have a beautiful table. See?

Michelle designed this lovely outdoor table. I think I might be using one of these
elements on myself. Thanks Michelle!

This was a non-traditional design for Thanksgiving with a D.I.Y. tablerunner. You could use craft paper in any color to create this look. I will never forget this table because I think it's so stunning.

This is actually a New Year's table but could easily translate to Christmas--Ralph Lauren style.
design indulgence
A beachy Christmas done right. Just grab pitchers from around the house and fill with mixed greens and you have a classic, festive centerpiece.

Cristin prepared this table as "breakfast with Elf on the Shelf". Isn't it great?
I like the layers of different fabrics.

Clean. Simple. A bit glamorous. It's one of my favorite looks.

This is a great, inexpensive idea with punch. Just add silk or real flowers to the base of your candle holder and call it a day! Thank you Martha.

It never hurts to add a little sparkle to your table to add a special tone to your look.

I think I'm going to have a pink and green table this year and I love Shelley's version. She's so smart, she even used a pink scarf as her table runner!

Nate Berkus shows us how it's done. I love the simplicity and the dash of color
on the chairs--unexpected and beautiful.

5 Tips to take away:
1) Layer your table with elements you already have in your home.
2) Votives and candlesticks are good. End of story.
3) Bring the outdoors in--twigs, flowers, berries, greens.
4) There really is no "right" way to create your table. Just play around until it feels good to you.
5) Don't be afraid to break-out from the traditional red and green colors.
Did anything strike you as a something you would
use on your table this Christmas?

I usually go for the bold colors, but the picture from decorpad really resonates me. Perhaps, due to all the Christmas decorations & stress, I'm already craving simplicity and fresh/clean look.
ReplyDeleteAbby...imagine my surprise when I scrolled down and saw my place settings! You are the best! I love all of the other ones also and got some great ideas for my files. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas Holiday.
ReplyDeleteI do not get to host a Christmas shindig this year.....buuuut, I do see more than a few elements we could use for the WEDDING reception!! Great ideas!
ReplyDeletei wish i was hosting christmas, the table setting is my favorite part!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images.
ReplyDeleteLove the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAbby,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting my table setting! I was checking out your blog today and was surprised to see my pictures! I love all the other inspirational photos you posted. The Martha Stewart one is so simple and elegant..and easy! Have a wonderful holiday!
That paper circles runner is incredibly clever. I don't know yet what I'm going to do. I may change out my chandelier and go more glam on the table with some shiny gold fabric I've bought. Cant decide. I'm having both Christmas Eve and Day with 2 dinners, so I guess I better get working on it!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty ideas. I have my table all planned for Christmas Eve dinner and because there are quite a few coming I set up multiple tables and "horrors"...tacky though it sounds, use decorative paper plates (hiding head in shame). But to compensate I do try to come up with a nice center piece and always have christmas crackers.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thanks so much for including my table. I am humbled... The others are beautiful. Wishing you and your family a merry Christmas.

Oh...I saw Suzie's table {decorpad} and I swooned all over again! Excellent choices of way to create something stunning without breaking the bank or slaving away at perfection. I need to save a few of these for "future" references. Thank you my dear!
ReplyDeleteCheers~

I'm a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.
